1.Find the perimeter of a rectangular field which is 40 m long and 20 m wide.



2.Find breadth of rectangle whose perimeter is 120m and length is 36m.



3. Find the length of a rectangle whose perimeter is 100 cm and breadth is 15cm.



4.Find the area of a rectangle whose length is 5m and breadth 45cm.



5. The area of rectangular garden which is 52 meters long is 1820sq.m.  find the width of the garden.



6. Find the length of the rectangular plot whose breadth is 40m and area is 3600 sq.m



7. Find the cost of fencing of a square part of side 200m at the rate of Rs. Per meter.

8.Rama runs around a square park of side 50m. Bulbul runs around a rectangular park with length 60m and breadth 45m.  Who covers less distance?



9.A flower bed is in the shape of a square with a side 3.5m.Each side is to be fenced with 4 rows of rupees.  Find the cost of rope required at Rs. 15 per meter.



10.A piece of wire is 60cm, long. What will be the length of each side if the string is used to form:

i) An equilateral triangle

ii)a square

iii)a regular hexagon

ix) a regular pentagon.



11. Bunty and bubbly go for jogging ever morning.  Bunty goes around a square park of side 80 m.  Bubly  goes around a rectangular park with length 90m and breadth 60m. If  they both take 3 rounds who covers grater distance and b how much?



12. The length of a rectangle is twice of its breadth.  If its perimeter is 36 cm. find the dimensions of the rectangle.



13. Two sides of a triangle are 12cm and 14cm The perimeter of the triangle is 36cm.  What is the length of third side?



14. The area of rectangular frame is 1,125sq.cm If its width is 25cm, what is its length?



15.The  length of a rectangular field is 60m and the breadth is half of its length.  Find the area of the field.



16. The area of rectangular plot is 2000 square meters and the sides are in the ratio 3:2 What is the perimeter?



17. The length and breadth of a room are 6m and 4m respectively.  How many square meters of carpet is required to completely cover the floor of the room? If the carpet costs Rs. 240 a square meter, what will be the total cost of completely covering the floor?



18. The length of a rectangular floor is 20m.  more than its breadth.  If the perimeter of the floor is 280m, what is its length?



19. A rectangular plot of land is 240m. b 200m.  The cost of fencing per meter is Rs. 30.  What is the cost of fencing the entire field?



20. The side of a square field is 120 meters.  The cost of preparing a grass lawn is Rs. 35 per square meter.  How much will it cost if the entire field is converter into a lawn?

1.Find the perimeter of a rectangular field which is 40 m long and 20 m wide.

Sol. l =40 m , b= 20 m, Perimeter = 2(l+b),  p= 2(40+20)= 120 m



2.Find breadth of rectangle whose perimeter is 120m and length is 36m.

Sol. P= 120m , l = 36m   Perimeter = 2(l+b)

        120 = 2(36 + b) = 72 + 2b

         2b = 120 – 72 = 48

            B= 48/2 = 24 m

 

3. Find the length of a rectangle whose perimeter is 100 cm and breadth is 15cm.

Sol. P= 100cm , b = 15cm   Perimeter = 2(l+b)

        100 = 2(l + 15) = 2l  + 30

         2l = 100 – 30 = 70

            l= 70/2 = 35cm



4.Find the area of a rectangle whose length is 5m and breadth 45cm.

Sol. length is 5m,   breadth 45cm. Area = l x b = 5 x 45=225

       

5. The area of rectangular garden which is 52 meters long is 1820sq.m.  find the width of the garden.

Sol.  Area of rectangle = 1820 sq.m

         Lngth of the rectangle = 52 m

         Width = Area / length = 1820/52 = 35 meters.



6. Find the length of the rectangular plot whose breadth is 40m and area is 3600 sq.m

Sol.  Area of rectangle = 3600 sq.m

         breadth of the rectangle = 40 m

         length = Area / breadth = 3600/40 = 90 meters.



7. Find the cost of fencing of a square part of side 200m at the rate of Rs. 20 Per meter.

Sol. Permiter of the park = 4 s = 4 x 200 = 800m

       Cost of fencing for one meter of park = Rs. 20-00

       Total cost of the fencing of the park: 20 x 800=16000



8.Rama runs around a square park of side 50m. Bulbul runs around a rectangular park with length 60m and breadth 45m.  Who covers less distance?

Side of the square park = 50m

Perimeter of the park = 4 x s = 4x 50 = 200m

Distance covered by rama= 200m, L= 60 and b=45

Perimeter of the park= 2(l + b)= 2(60 + 45) = 210m

Bulbul covers more distance.



9.A flower bed is in the shape of a square with a side 3.5m.Each side is to be fenced with 4 rows of rupees.  Find the cost of rope required at Rs. 15 per meter.

L = 3.5, perimeter of square = 4s = 4 x 3.5 = 14 cm.

Length of the roupe 4 sides = 14 x 4= 56cm.

Cost of rope required at Rs. 15 permeter = 56 x15= Rs. 840



10.A piece of wire is 60cm, long. What will be the length of each side if the string is used to form:

Length of  wire = 60m

The perimeter of an equilateral triangle with side let x

3x = 60    There fore x = 20

An equilateral triangle side = 20 cm

Perimeter of ‘square = 4s = 4x

Length of  wire = 60m

ii)a square 4x = 60    There fore x= 60/4 =15

Length of  wire = 60m

The perimeter of the regular hexagon with six “x” cm

 6x  = 60    x =60/6 = 10

iii)a regular hexagon = 10

The perimeter of the regular pentagon with five “x” cm

ix) a regular pentagon. 5x = 60  x= 60/5 = 12cm
